Series: The Cloven Land Trilogy #1
Alright, I mostly finished this just so that I could count it for the Kill Your Darlings game. It started out promising with Cait but then jumped to a fantasy land for a good ten chapters. I'm not sure what it was exactly that prevented me from connecting with the story but I guess it was a lack of polish. I felt like the book would have benefited from at least one more pass from an editor to point out things like you shouldn't be referring to falling to the floor when you're outside, or you could use some actual description of the settings, or just streamline portions of it. The dialogue was lack-lustre and I just wasn't impressed overall. I won't be bothering with the rest of the trilogy.
