It is easy to envisage an alternate history where the advancing ant colony became merely the myriad-bodied puppet of hidden beetle overlords. 


I'm not sure why I find these bug wars so awesome but I do. Ok, they're not bugs, but "arthropod wars" just doesn't have the same ring to it.
