Really I’ve been flipping through this for a while (it’s not generally something you read cover to cover), but I restarted at the beginning and read through it more systematically so that I could count it as one of the Summer Bingo Books. I’m counting it as “Beach, sand or sun on the cover” because check this out:
I know it’s the back cover, but that’s still the sun!
Overall, it’s quite fun seeing a bunch of different concepts explained in the most commonly-used thousand (ten hundred, actually, since thousand itself didn't make the cut) words, although I was tempted a few times to refer to diagrams with the proper names of things to help work out what it was talking about. I did cave for the periodic table because I don’t know the bottom rows that well.
